Those are mushrooms in a typical English breakfast. Many in Britain prefer more flavorful mushrooms than button mushrooms. If I could afford porcini or portobello (which really are just giant cremini) mushrooms on a regular basis, I’d eat them for breakfast.
Many in the U.K. “dine” on beans on toast as a regular meal, particularly students. These British students should move to Bologna, Italy, where student dining is superb. Bologna is like Boston - great food but insufferable folks (students and other Lefties) and inefficient Socialist, if not totally Communist, government.
