READING, Ohio - A man who runs a suburban Cincinnati barbecue joint says the busty mannequin he put out front has been good for business, but city officials say he needs a permit to keep her there. The Design and Review Board in suburban Reading said under city rules, the figure is considered a sign, requiring a permit.
Restaurateur Kenny Tessel said the 5-foot-10 mannequin, dressed in a bikini top and tight short-shorts, cost him nearly $200 but he quickly made that back from customers.
She makes drivers do a double-take as they drive past KT's Barbecue in Ohio, and she's boosted the store's business by 30 percent. And she works without pay.
Sort of like the girls wearing thongs operating roadside hot dog stands.
I’d hit it... er... um....
Not Guilty!
The Associated Press, July 8, 2009 READING, Ohio BarBe Q, the shapely mannequin outside KT's Barbecue restaurant in Reading, Ohio, can continue wearing her revealing halter top and short shorts. On May 13, the city's Design Review Board agreed to let BarBe Q remain on display outside as long as she dressed more modestly. But restaurant owner Kenny Tessel appealed, and Monday night Reading's Board of Zoning Appeals agreed with him 3-2.
He had told the design review board that the advertising gimmick had increased his business by 40 percent.
"I am very happy," Tessel told The Cincinnati Enquirer. "Now, we can get back to business."
Get her to a tanning salon ASAP! ;)
