I hope this information and links sheds some light on the fact that Air Force 1 goes nowhere without the President KNOWING AND APPROVING IT!!!That is what I thought too, and I work with the DoD, so I wasn't buying into the "official" explanation. Thanks for putting the info out.

Here's what someone needs to do.
Someone in New York City, who lost a loved one, and who saw the Presidential 747 flying low around the Statue of Liberty,
and who ran for cover at that site,
needs to grab a good lawyer,
file a law suit for damages from that incident, claiming post dramatic stress disorder,
against the President,
and the FAA (New York Terminal Approach Control Facility [TRACON]). Then have the lawyer call the facility manager at New York Federal Aviation Administration Terminal Radar Facility,
and tell him to hold the tapes for that incident, due to a filed law suit for cause and damages (This needs to be done within fifteen days from the incident, and the clock is running.)
Then request a transcript of the tapes to include all landline, radio, and computer radar recordings related to that incident,
including prior coordination.
Now the information will be protected for at least six months.
Follow up with your lawyer making a written request for the same information,
and have him file a Hazardous Air Traffic Action Report.
This should get the ball rolling,
but remember ... the clock is running
and this happened ... what two or three days ago?
After fifteen days the tapes are destroyed, if no reports are filed.
But this will cost money, for legal fees,
and I can't help you with that.
