FLINT, Michigan -- This mother and daughter tandem go shopping together, get their nails done together, pump iron together and compete in bodybuilding competitions together.
Yes, that's right, mom Sandy Barber, 48, and daughter Kristin, 26, work out two hours a day together at the gym to prepare to show off their muscles.
"We're crazy," Kristin said, laughing.
Wearing sequined, homemade bikinis, the two displayed their rippled backs, toned arms and legs and perfect abs at a bodybuilding competition on Saturday at the University of Michigan-Flint.
Sandy pumped 10-pound weights while Kristin performed crunches as they waited their turns to go under the hot lights and pose for the judges.
The Holly women competed in the "figure" class of the competition, which is less about building muscle mass and more about being toned and in incredible shape.
They split their time at the gym between cardio and muscle-toning workouts.

Nice.
I don’t see anything wrong with this (in fact, they’re inspiring me to do some more ab crunches). They’re beautiful and so evidently healthy.
I just don’t understand why they have to paint themselves dark brown when they are obviously white women. What’s wrong with being a Caucasian? Is there a prejudice against white skin in the world of female bodybuilders so that it gives one a competitive edge to wear brown paint?
They should lay off the tanning booth, IMHO....
I don’t find overly muscled women attractive, and my eye-brain circuit gets to define that any way it wants to.
>> I’d “”HIT”” either of them...
These ones here might just hit you back. :-)
The color helps show off the definition. Just the way it is.
EW!
Umm... no. Under competition, a tanned skin tone will contrast better than a paler skin tone under lights. Most wrestlers will tan like this as well. Go see "The Wrestler." There's a pretty hilarious scene where Mickey Rourke's character goes through this ritual of shaving and tanning.
I wouldn’t consider them overly muscular. They look like a lot of girls who come into the YMCA in my area.
Heavens!
They’re definitely “naturals”, not steroid monsters. Unfortunately, their bodyfat is down to the point that their feminine curves are partially erased. If I could ask them one question, I would ask the all-important one that they haven’t dieted and exercised to the point of amenorrhea (menstrual cycle shut-down).
I do hate all that fake tanning, however. Who decided that was necessary?
It’s what happens at competitions. It’s fake tanning. Someone decided many moons ago that darker, shiny color is better than white for showing off muscles.
They would kill you. It would take the undertaker 3 days to wipe the smile off your face dude!
?Better hurry, before the wrinkles and skin cancer set in.
I saw that movie on Friday night. It was very sad at certain points. I thought the ending was weak and lame, but overall I give it a B+.
I want to be there for “Take your Daughter to Work Day! LOL
Ha ha!
Toned women.....hot
Ripped women....pass
