Folks, dont get distracted and take your eyes off the real disease.
The real disease is in Washington, Di-Sease, where all the crooks are.
Wash your hands, Use paper products to whipe your nose and discard after your use each time. Use paper products to whipe your hands after you wash them etc.
And treat the sysmptoms if you get it. Stay home if you get sick.
And quit this GD mass hysteria!
We can sit and “what if” this thing to death folks, but stop and think for a moment...
If you don’t believe the media hype about Global Warming, Climate Change, rising seas, drowning polar bears and all of that hype, why on earth would you buy into this “pandemic” and “epidemic” hysteria??
Seriously.
Thank You. A voice of reason.
LOL ! I swear that if you use the neti pot every 2 hrs or so at the first sign of a cold ( for the first day or two), you will have a much milder case than those around you who did not. I have tested this out many times. You also won't get the post-cold sinus infection that so often follows. I'm sold on mine.
It’s Bush’s fault!
Excellent thread and information from everyone.
BTTT!
Google Map with pins showing confirmed cases with blue and I’m not sure what the red dots are for. I did a google map search with “swine flu 2009” as the search terms. If others know of a way to drill this data down further go for it! I am actually to the point of going out to pick up supplies, it seems that it is either moving quickly or they are ramping up verification of infection. See link below

Those look great. I’ll try to find one today. The ear readers are available at any drug store for about 3000 yen so I will go with one of those if I cant find the temporal thermometer. But I have to get something in place asap.
Make sure you or family members have enough prescription drugs to last a couple of months. Just to be on the safe side.
You can buy masks and other supplies at this link. I purchased my masks a few years ago and I got a box of 200 masks for $200.00. They have gone up but if you don't have any you better order now because they might sell out. THIS is the exact mask that I got. It has the respirator and is much safer than a regular face mask like painters use.
You also need to buy disposable gloves. I bought two boxes of a hundred each, but I can't remember what I paid for them. You need a hand sanitizer and a good disinfectant too. Ideally, we should all have goggles to protect our eyes since you can get it from rubbing your eyes. Children especially need to be reminded to keep their hands out of their mouth, eyes and ears and that they should wash their hands frequently during the day, but especially after using the bathroom. Actually, that applies to every one.
You never know what terrorists are going to do in a time of chaos, so I would recommend that everyone keep some food that can be eaten right from the box/can/etc. Just in case they hit our power plants and we lose our electricity, you may want to buy a hand can opener. They're very inexpensive. Also, you need batteries, flashlights, matches and candles, just in case. Also, if you have small children, you might want to buy some toys/books/games that don't require electricity because they will need to be occupied during the time you can't leave/or don't want to leave your home. Snacks like dehydrated fruit, nuts, trail mix, bananas, oranges, apples will also be good to keep on hand.
IF it gets real bad and they quarantine us for an extended period of time, then you have to think about what you use daily and make sure you have plenty of it. Things like toilet paper etc, and don't forget to have lots of food on hand for your pets. If terrorists get into our water supply during a period of chaos, you need to have lots of water on hand. I've got 10, 5 gallon bottles of water. I rotate it so it's always 'fresh.'
Here's what the CDC has to say about swine flu.
This may be more than you wanted to know. lol..
I thought a couple of the articles stated it is not really swine flu, but some mutation of avian, swine and human flu...into something never seen before. Was that a false report?
Folks —
I want to assure you this is not a Chicken Little/tin foil moment on my part. This is not fear mongering. This thread was not about the over-hyped avian flu threat. My reasoning for even starting the thread was preparedness, because *IF* this swine flu, which *does* have an effective human to human vector, *IF* it *does* turn out to be highly virulent and/or deadly, then communities have only days or hours to be prepared.
Also this particular swine flu is a variant of an H1N1 so it’s general nature is known, but there are no guarantees that existing vaccines and therapeutics such as Tamiflu would work. We are in an ‘unknown’ phase of a genuine (if not yet fully widespread) “outbreak” with a globally mobile population. Prudence and preparedness are sensible.
That’s the reason why it’s worth tracking this swine flu outbreak and thinking about what you should do before you and all your neighbors must suddenly do something.

It’s rational.
