This will be what Microsoft does in the future when they replace the current OS Kernel they are using.
The tech is really cool - check out research.microsoft.com sometime - they are one of the few American software companies actually doing research.

Thanks, I will. What would be really cool is if they could launch different kernels on the same VM so you would not have to switch between VMs when running old application with new ones.

There’s plenty of companies in the US, both software and hardware, doing plenty of research. Microsoft never stood out as being a research heavyweight, such as IBM is.
