People are allowed to vote for who appeals to them the most. If they are drawn to people of their own race, that’s their business. If white voters are less attracted to the black diva style of singing, that’s their business. If little girl voters don’t want to daydream about an openly gay singer, that’s their business, too.

But, having said that, I don’t think race had anything to do with it. There have been enough minority winners to confirm that race is not a disqualifier.

Good points.

Plus, what do we call it when black people vote for a black singer so that one of their own could win?

Or when a gay person votes for an openly gay person?

Sheesh!
