Anyone who has a Bull Terrier around toddlers is an idiot. And, I’m a dog lover who has been around the dog game a while....
I am a firm believer that a dog is only as good as it’s owner, you raise a dog with hate and it will kill and maul, you teach a dog with love and it will hurt nothing....but I am sure beginning to wonder about the pit bull species.
I am as well. I agree with your post. I have read the arguments back and forth here on Free Republic, and I might be in danger of being a convert to the idea that pit bulls might just have a genetic screw loose.
Total agreement but might raise the age beyond toddler.
I would add GS, DP, and several others to the list but esp. pitbulls.
Honestly, I haven’t heard too much about German Shepherds attacking unless direct to by their owner.

Pit Bulls - kill ‘em all!

They’re an abomination invented by humans and they need to be allowed to go extinct.

They were designed to attack and destroy and that’s exactly what they do.
I haven’t either but I wouldn’t trust a large dog around a toddler period.
I had a friend that had the most trusted GS I’d seen. Let my kids around him when the kids were small.
Well, one day the dog bit one of the neighbor kids. I lost my trust.
I’m sure the kid likely did something to rile the dog but kids will be kids.
I had a foxhound that any kids could pull, climb on, etc.
But he didn’t like one kid in the neighborhood. Saw him pulling off the kid’s shorts as the kid was trying to go over our fence.
I’m sure the kid had done something it the past.
It’s been my observation that dogs sense juveniles and allow them ‘liberties’ they wouldn’t tolerate from and adult. At least my family’s dogs do.
Pits don’t need much of an excuse to destroy the antagonist. And they are lethal.
Other breeds bite and stop. Pits kill.
And yes, I’ve lived around one .

I have an 11 year old GSD, and he is the sweetest boy you would ever want to meet, when my GF and I play fight, he will bark and get between us, but has never tried to bite her. GSD’s and Rotties get a bad rap because idiots are allowed to own the breeds.
