Time to Flash Mob (vanity)

Conservative flash mobs (how do we get them going?).

http://www.asuwebdevil.com/node/5751

Flash mobs are currently used in the United States as a sort of public
art. The participants are usually students. They plan a time, location,
and activity. All are notified of where, when, and what, and then show
up and perform. Once done, all participants leave (quietly).

Flash mobs have been used in some countries where political
organization is banned. Perhaps all will show up in a public place and
eat an ice-cream, while walking around in the area. This doesn't sound
like much, but when you have 300 people who show up to a location, all
buy ice-cream and proceed to walk around authority gets nervous.

Why should conservatives start to flash mob? April 15 was a one off.
Sorry to say, the media will not cover honestly anything that is not
consistent with their own political views. (I resist the urge to go
into a diatribe about the fourth estate's betrayal of the American
people). Flash mobs form up in public areas, where non-participants can
see the activity first hand, as opposed to relying on the media to
report the activity to the public.

The disadvantage to the flash mob, is just that, it is done in a flash.
The participants may receive five hours notice of the where/what/when.
This is an obstical to conservative participation due to the fact that
generally we are employed. With out ramp up and planning, participation
may be low or non-existent. However, there are times that we may be
able to turn out a crowd of two the three hundred. Continued and
constant demonstration of our displeasure will get across to the
government our disapproval more emphatically than a once-a-year protest
(especially if these can be coordinated nationally).

The advantages to the flash mob is anonymity. I know that I do not want
to be identified personally. I have family and a child, and do not want
to become a target of the left. I'm sure that there are several people
who are sympathetic to the conservative movement who feel the same way.
The deniability ("I just happened to be here when all these people
showed up.") will give a feeling of security.

Some possible conservative flash mob activities:
Show up and hold an American flag.
Show up and hold your state's flag.
Show up and just stand still.
Park your car on the freeway, get out and stand up. This one is evil and potentially dangerous.

The question is:

1. How will this be organized?

Just a thought from NotQuiteCricket.

I think we need to start flash mobbing to the tune of several million. Numbers speak my friends. There are million so f us and only a few of them.

The ones in the middle will go with the flow; we just have to get it flowing in OUR direction

You need a good ‘central local’ to ‘hang out’ such as twitter or IRC to get a flash raid kicked off.

Show up and just stand still. Park your car on the freeway, get out and stand up.

This sounds pointless, & liberal.
(is that redundant?)

Applaude your enthusiasm, but it’s a gay idea.
Stop on the freeway, get out, and then what? Help with triage for the dozens of injured?
Gayer than gay porn idea.

Your understanding of flash mobs is so 2008. There is now flash sex. Flash drug parties. Flash drinking parties and even flash porn movies.

Middle aged conservatives don’t mob, and I don’t see why they should.

"Middle aged conservatives don’t mob, and I don’t see why they should."

If it were called something else would that make you feel
better?

Congregate.
Protest.
Gather.
Group.

You are correct. It is hopeless. Let the current government
saddle us with unlimited debt. Then we can renege, and become a
third world country.

All these thing imply thought and deliberate intent.
Do you know why kids mob? Because they’re disaffected and spoiled, and it pleases them to think that they’re being rebelious and edgy. Very similar to the feeling my two year old gets when she throws food across the table.
The problem with this behavior is that it’s pointless and invites retribution from authority, and we know from experience that government ‘spankings’ can turn deadly.

If we gather, it should be well organized, coldly planned, and carried out to the finish. That’s more frightening, I think, than a bunch of kids screaming ‘look at me’! for a few seconds.

True. And what he said about being able to get the information in time is true...

However, I also understand flash mobs to work by ‘sharing’, ie, one person gets a text message/IM/facebook message (or other private communication) about a ‘flash mob’ and passes it on to five or 10 friends who’d be up for such a thing, and they pass it on to five more friends each, etc. One distinct advantage of this is that there’s no Twitter feed for someone to notice ex post facto that it was really pre-planned, or even notice ahead of time that it’s going to happen.

Oh, and I think showing up wearing apparel with an American flag on it (or even wearing red, white, and blue) would be effective yet subtle, and more easily deniable than carrying such a flag... you might not take any special attention of one or two people wearing such clothing, but when you’ve got a crowd, you really start to notice.

For flash-mobbing 101, there’s a book out called ‘Little Brother’ by Cory Doctorow, and it’s under the Creative Commons license if you want to download it. While it does have both applaudable and objectionable political leanings on various subjects, it’s also got a couple good chapters in which the main character organises an underground internet community and starts to get them flash-mobbing, which would serve as a pretty good how-to guide.

OK, so do what then?
I've already taken as many deductions as possible on my W-2.
I'm open to suggestions. This isn't a "Oh, yes, we must do this." Thread, this is a "Something needs to be done to continue to demonstrate that there are people out here that are angry with the federal government." thread. A one off demonstration is not enough.

Well, I believe there are the upcoming May or July meet ups.
Network with local conservatives and arrange a stand-in at your capitol, a courthouse, or wherever; just because it’s planned doesnt mean it can’t look like a flash mob.
By all means, meet & protest...Just don’t do it the way the leftists do, using people that are only there on a lark and leaving a huge mess behind.

What needs to happen is we need to starve the beast. It is called “Operation Thrift”...put off major purchases as long as possible, increase all deductions on taxes, work as little overtime as possible...remember to keep it all legal...and deny the feds the extra tax revenue, starve the beast

Exciting & inspirational. Ever consider running for office?
