A fair enough question.
The March for Justice on 10/31/98 got the ball rolling on impeaching Bill Clinton when 4,000 Freepers and cvarious speakers held a rally at the Washington Monument. The House impeached Bildo less than two months later--only the second time in history that this happened. We did not know then that on Feb.12, 1999, a corrupt Senate would refuse to do its duty and convict the President on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice.
We were there on the ground, especially in Palm Beach, FL after the 2000 election, keeping Algore from stealing the election. Freepers came up with the famous "Sore-Loserman" graphic that went viral.
In 2004, our support of the Swifties helped derail John Kerry, and Buckhead's famous expose of the Texas ANG memoes trotted out by CBS helped to discredit the media, the Dems, and Dan Rather all in one fell swoop, causing Rather's eventual resignation in disgrace.
In 2006-7, we helped fight back the amnesty legislation twice and got the wall built--or at least started, til Kay Bailey Hutchison once again betrayed us and took the mandate for the wall out of the legislation.
In 2008, we helped John McLoser get his 57 million votes by coming out for Sarah Palin in spite of our misgivings about McCain. Otherwise, it would have been more of a blowout than it was.
In 2009, many Freepers helped get behind the Tea Party movement and make it a success.
So, did we make a difference?
Hell, yes we did. And we are not finished yet.
I felt that the focus should have been on the objectives of Free Republic rather than on some individual quantitative posting frequencies.
Here is how I see it, we are facing the greatest danger to our Republic than we can ever imagine both internally and externally. The obama admin. is on a mission to accomplish their control over us at all costs, even if it wrecks our economy. They do not tolerate disagreement and are out to silence their critics by all means possible including censoring the internet as was done in China.
I have this feeling in my gut that tells me we had better be alert because of obama and his cabinet. His appointment of czars overrides control by Congress and that alarms me. It also alarms me that I don’t hear daily warnings about those overrides in the media.
Folks, we haven’t got much time left, let’s use it wisely. We need to make an even bigger difference than we have before.
