I had a pit bull in my yard the other night (caught it there when I returned home from the store - it ran as soon as we pulled into the drive.) This dog, which will meet my .38 if I ever see it on my property again, was assumably trying to get ahold of one of my cats, did about $500 worth of damage to my husbands truck. It completely chewed the wiring to one of his headlights and chewed both sides of his bumper cover damaging it enough that it needs to be replaced.

I dont care if the dog is someones beloved pet or if they think it is the nicest dog in the world. It comes back onto my property it will be a dead dog. If I cant get close enough with my .38 the .30-06 will do nicely.

And 99% of the Freepers will fully support you protecting your family and property in this matter.

On the other hand, the way I read this story was that an UNSUPERVISED 4 year old wandered into the property of a person who had a dog chained up on THEIR property. Dog bites kid. If true, the parents have no one to blame but themselves for allowing their child to wander freely through the neighborhood. Hence the reason that the story states that no one will be charged.

And the thugs who turned their dog into a monster will decide their pit wasn’t badass enough, and move on to whatever other breed they think makes them ghetto-fab.

Symptom vs cause
Tool vs criminal

I would do the same, and I’m a pit owner myself.

Loose dogs are bad news.
