virus?
I just read a report in our local paper and they were speculating about a toxin in the feed.
Bad Feed maybe.
Happened too quickly for a virus. Just as the article speculates: water, bedding, feed, medicine, etc.

Vets are suggesting a toxin in the feed or “supplements” that the horses are given.
Makes me wonder about steroids or other “performance enhancing” substances.
I think the veterinarian has suggested a toxic cause. If it were virus-induced, the incubation period and clinical course would be more variable. I would need further clinical information to assess the cause of sudden death. Differential considerations: cantharidin, monensin, OP or carbamate insecticides, cyanogenic plants, Oleander, Japanese Yew. More information on history, surroundings, and transportation methods are needed.
Poison....most likely.
