"I bet if there was a pooper scooper someone would break/steal it."

Our dog park has had the same two pooper-scoopers for at least a year now.

What I use. This is my second one in 5 years (I think the yard guys broke the other one—they break everything else!) But I love it, it works well and is small enough to easily get the stuff into a bag.

The rake is not as good as the 2 piece set that has a piece kinda like a flat shovel to scoop into and a piece kinda like a hoe to push the poop with. (If I have made myself clear.) I have 4 dogs and a pretty good sized yard and I have to pick up poop every day. (I consider myself something of an expert on poop picking up. ;)

We moved from 2.5 acres in TX to a postage stamp here in S. FL (land is so expensive, you just cannot afford a big lot). We don't even have a fence! (we do have hedge around the back, but while you don't see the neighbors, the dogs could easily scoot thru if they wanted to, so they cannot go out unsupervised). Anyway, it's a pain, but you're right, you find other things to do. We do have dog parks here, but I've not used them, am a little afraid of what other dogs might be there. pauliball1

I’ve got 5 dogs using the back yard and appreciate any advice.
Did you get your tools at a pet shop or garden shop?

Well then, my faith in people is restored! I’m glad to hear that. I always think the worst. I should stop that! (but someone DID come steal a concrete turtle I had painted and 2 metal birds—cranes—from my garden one night. It’s not like they were valuable, probably stole them and threw them in a dumpster!

Pets Mart or Petco should have them. Get the set with the metal handle instead of wooden handles if you have an option but don't get the set with the rake. My first set had wooden handles and since I left them out in the rain the wooden handles rotted and broke.

I’m completely in favor of the hefty fines, for an additional reason: Four years ago, I was taking an evening walk with my son (who had just turned six) when a pickup tore through our 25mph neighborhood doing around 40. Son and I watched as a loose pit bull ran into the street, got hit, and was sent a good 30 feet through the air. He wa dead before he hit the ground. Pickup never slowed. This could just as easily have been a Jack Russell chasing a squirrel, a Golden chasing a ball, a Collie after a frisbee...dogs have instincts that they cannot always master. Shame on any dog owner who doesn’t consider this when allowing Fido to run loose.

No problem. It’s sort of the worst aspect of owning dogs, in my opinion.
