Nope, she remained faithful and he didn't. There was not an equal amount of work done.

Sorry dude, that is not nor ever has been part of the legal basis for consideration in dividing joint property.

Generally speaking, the non-remunerative contributions to a marriage are unquantifiable and cannot be assigned a value. Although that doesn’t always stop lawyers/judges from rushing in where angels fear to tread.

Mrs. Gibson supported Mr. Gibson when he was a nobody, bore him 7 children and devoted her life to rearing them. Mr. Gibson has been an alcoholic pretty much most of that marriage, his first drunk driving conviction was four years into the marriage when they had very small children.

There was certainly no guarantee that Mr. Gibson would ever be big and while some believe he would have made the big time without his wife, it could just as easily be claimed he would have ended up a pathetic drunken bum or dead in a ditch without her stabilizing influence.

The law says she’s entitled to it. End of story.
