The animal can never be “blamed”, always the owners. Just as there are morons who happen to own guns, so are their morons who own pits and other dogs that can maim and kill others.
Hopefully a jury will impoverish the irresponsible owners for the rest of their lives and the victims in this case will be taken care of.
Unfortunately, it is usually trash people with no money who are the irresponsible owners of these breeds whose dogs then get lose, kill kids or rip someones face off, and they got nothing and the victims lives are ruined.
What needs to happen in this nation is enforce personal responsibility. Eye for an eye. If you are not responsible enough to own one of these then you shouldn’t own one.
I have owned my share of pits, rotts and the like - responsibly - no one ever was injured or maimed by my attack dogs - who wasn’t attempting to burglarize my house...
Yes these breeds can be very dangerous and owning them is not to be taken lightly. I see people in some parts of the country with dangerous breeds and poorly fenced yards and its a liability waiting to happen. It should be made a criminal liability. Fact is, they just don’t care. Cause they are trash to begin with.
If you own one and it gets lose and tears some kids face off, you better be very well insured - which they pretty much won’t insure these dogs anyway. More and more insurance companies are writing out coverage for these breeds out of their policies and good luck finding any liability for these breeds for cheap. If not well insured you better be independently wealthy.
If none of the above - then you should be tied to a tree and the victims family gets set attack dogs upon you or inflict other damage until a panel of hard-ass public officials declares that an equal amount of damage has been done up to and including death.
In a truly just society that actually believed in personal responsibility - this is the way it would work. But we are a nation of coddled, excuse-making wimps who want to have things and do things but not accept any of the responsibilities that come with them.
All fun and games until your kid gets its face ripped off or killed by a couple of these that got loose. Its happened before and it will happen again.
I got nothing against any animal. I have a whole lot against irresponsible people that walk among us who own these animals and have zero personal responsibility.
Rottweilers don’t seem to be nearly as dangerous because for one thing, they’re more territorial and less apt to run wild

What? BAD analogy to start. Guns do not have instinct—they cannot get loose and run around maiming and killing. Pit Bulls can, and do.
I’m a dog lover but NO ONE needs a Pit Bull — they are truly dangerous.
