I can’t believe the amount of work, and money, it takes to keep these great old machines running. There’s got to be a special place in Heaven for those who take the time and make the effort to do this labor of love.
I got there well before it was scheduled to begin and there was a line of these classics about half-a-mile long waiting to get into the gate! What a neat sight!
I am just getting back to shooting full time following a total hip replacement and I didn’t have the stamina to stay until it ended, but I was there nearly three hours and the cars were still arriving when I was leaving.
They had a nice bunch of them there! I wish I had the time to stop and photograph the details of some of the nicer ones! So many cars, so little time.
I like both the originals and the customs. We used to have a fantastic rod & custom car show here in New York City every year. For some strange reason they did away with it around 30 years ago.
The exhibit you went to only had stock antique automobiles, correct? To clarify for others, the hot rod custom pics I posted were from elsewhere online.
Oh, you took those antique car photos yourself? I didn't realize that. Very nice!

Paul McCartney used to date Jane Asher, Peter's sister. (Also roomed with Peter). Paul also wrote many of P & G's big hits an this bumbed out P & G because they thought it was McCartneys name that made their music famous.
So...Paul wrote another song, Woman, under an alias, Bernard Webb, and it was a big hit too.
I won first place in a school talent contest singing that song sometime in the late 50's. I would have been about 14.
I get to shoot a couple of car shows a year and I love doing them. Sadly, the really good ones are so well attended that it's difficult to get a good clean shot of the cars. And if that wasn't bad enough they plaster those tacky show ID cards right on the windshield! Of course the owners all break out the lounge chairs and stuff and put it right along side or behind the cars, making it even more challenging.
I took the time to get a few shots of engines, they are all sooooooo clean, and simple!
Thanks for the link, I'll go find out what went amiss with my attempt.
Yes, these are all stock, and for the most part ancient! We have a big street rod meet every year here at the Florida State Fair Grounds. What a great week for seeing neat cars all over Tampa!
My other love is Sun ‘n Fun, with all the great airplanes. I have applied for press credentials again this year but I'm not sure they'll favor me again. I stood them up a lot last year because of my failing hip and I just couldn't walk over the two plus miles of flight line to get the shots! I wrote them and asked for another chance, told them I have a brand new hip now, we'll see.
We have a place about 60 miles from here, over near Disney, called Old Town. It's shopping center that looks like a turn of the century, 19 to 20, not 20 to 21, and they have their Saturday Night Cruise every week. A hundred or more cars show up every week for it. Lots of good ol’ rock and roll, mostly live, etc. At 8 PM they have a parade down the main street featuring all the cars. Always a crowd and the crowd is always pleased.
Old Town has a larger selection of cars, all kinds, than one of the classic shows. Some of them are restored, but a lot of them are just really nice, well cared for examples of cars 30 years old or more. Lots of street rods, very nice ones, what a sound!
Yes, you hyperlinked it. I provided it again in my response only for convenience.
