The Andy Griffith Show was once my favorite TV program of all time, no exceptions. Added to that was the fact that Griffith was from Mount Airy, N.C., and that is where my paternal ancestors migrated to Tennessee from.

During the 2008 presidential campaign I saw Howard and Griffith's Pro-Obama campaign videos, as Andy and Opey.
I vowed at that point to never watch that show again, and I haven't.

Opie and Andy are both off my list. The AG show was OK but I was never totally wild about it. Now I have a good reason to never watch it.

I didn't catch that video during the campaign.

It's hard to believe that Howard made those only a few months ago -- so much has changed, and the "hope and change" message already looks dated. Ron's going to have a hard time living that down.

But I'd go easy on Andy Griffith. He didn't know 50 years ago that he'd end up voting for Obama. And Sheriff Andy Taylor probably wouldn't have. Don't know if I can saw that about that trial lawyer Matlock, though.
