Why I'm Leaving Free Republic

I am leaving Free Republic. After I post this message I will not come back and most likely ask the moderator to remove my account.

You may ask why. Today I posted a copy of a letter I received from an anti-terrorism officer in the United States Air Force. It was received through official channels but was not classified or top secret and I was granted permission to share it. It was an article concerning the possibility of a terrorist attack on American soil and it was pulled because, and I quote "Proven incorrect on snopes."

This is one time I am disagreeing with the moderator and his/her decision to pull the thread. This information was verified through official military channels and was supposed to help warn us to the imminent danger our country is in.

Instead, the moderator exercised, I felt, a lapse in judgment when he (or she) pulled the article that is in need of being disseminated. And this isn't the first time this has been done by moderators on Free Republic. While Free Republic has stood for conservative and GOP values it has also neglected it's responsibility to see that the information of the type I tried to share gets out. Instead they say it can't be verified and could be wild speculation (though I told them it was verified through official military channels) and pulled it even though I asked them not to.

So, I am saying goodbye. It was fun and I will treasure the friends I have made here on FR. Good luck to you all.

That post that was pulled would have interested me; I've heard unofficially that the threat level has increased as well. But most of those are just scuttlebutt, Crickets in the Grass.

You ought to reconsider. You might get the scoop on a the real deal.....and I hope I'll still have electrical power and connectivity to read it.

Your assumptions are most likely false. If the information was accurate it would have been classified SECRET or above and there is no way the Air Force Officer would be authorized to disseminate it in public. In fact the information would be restricted to a closed, SECRET or above network without the possibility of releasing it to the internet. That would be a serious boo-boo.

I think the officer is smart enough not to release classified information into the public domain -his career depends upon it. The officer more than likely passed on information which was already in the public domain and apparently, has already been debunked.

Wait until the officer sends you an urgent Computer Security update which requires deleting System files or even formatting C:\.

Here’s the deal

Freeper gets an email forwarded from his cousin who got it from an officemate that sounds really true
Instead of verifying it, he posts it as a news item on FR
Someone busts him by Snoping him
He blames Snopes for being liberal and swears by the veracity of his cousin although his cousin was just forwarding the email and has no idea about its truthfulness.
He gets in a huff and opuses.
Comes back next week.

Last year I got into a tiff with a moderator who won’t allow a realtime discussion on a tornado touch-down in Ohio in breaking news. He/she wanted it in “weather.”

Seriously. I finally got some satisfaction. The moderator was completely wrong.

I don’t think the USA will soon be attacked, because with Barry as President we are now Dar al Islam. Unlike Rush Limbaugh, The Islamic world wants Barry to succeed.

I disagree. I don't think they care in the least that Obama wants to turn our country into a socialist utopia.

I'd bet that they correctly sense weakness in our current leadership and will take advantage of the opportunity to try to embarass the USA.
