And I posted before reading- I was thinking of section 8 rental assistance. An ownership program is even better, giving them more reason to improve themselves.

This program is just welfare disguised as home ownership. These individuals receive a home without any down payment and subsidized housing payments. Free housing. Hooray!

The welfare and entitlement mindset is now exploding. The rats have effectively dismantled welfare reform. The rats have replaced welfare reform with welfare for most. In addition to fostering a destructive welfare mentality, programs like this are fraught with fraud and inefficiency. Individuals will commit fraud to get on these deals and commit fraud to stay on this deal. This program is similar to rent control distorting the market for housing and punishing property owners in favor of rent control seekers.

Your assertion about moving the hood to the suburbs is naive. Many communities experiencing high crime have realized too late that section 8 housing is the culprit. Dispersed section 8 housing often leads to crime moving to the new locations.
