Weird! Just three nights ago, here in the Eastern Sierra, I saw a bright light to the east which I first took to be a star or planet, then as I noticed that it was moving, it suddenly disapeared, like someone shut off the lights.

Weird! Just three nights ago, here in the Eastern Sierra, I saw a bright light to the east which I first took to be a star or planet, then as I noticed that it was moving, it suddenly disapeared, like someone shut off the lights. If you are within 50 miles or so from an airport it was likely a commercial jet turning off its take-off/landing lights as it gained altitude after takeoff. I've seen the same thing over my house which is about 40-50 miles from our regional airport and directly under the flight path to Dallas.
