I agree - Palin just lowers herself closer to their level by commenting.

Are you people freaking kidding me? This isn't just some punk off the street - this is the kid who was supposedly going to marry Palin's daughter and is the father of her child. He went on national television and made a bunch of accusations. It would have been beyond ignorant NOT to respond, not to mention sacrificing family honor for political expediency. Now, if Palin had issued some Jerry Springer-type of response, I'd agree that she shot herself in the foot, but the statement was classy and to the point, without being petty or argumentative. It basically said that they were disappointed in Levi's behavior.

Worrying about what the media will do with the story is pointless. The media will lie, distort, and accuse regardless of Palin's response. At least this way, some dignity and pride is defended. You can't just ignore the kid - he was an insider. His accusations must be addressed or the media would use that to attack Palin.

Have you people been beaten down so long that you've lost even the will to defend yourselves?

"Have you people been beaten down so long that you've lost even the will to defend yourselves?

This probably wouldn't have been covered by the more mainstream publications like NYT or WaPo. But, with Palin's rather lengthy response from her spokesman, they have to cover it now.

Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. A...

or even...

"We're disappointed in Levi. Beyond that, we won't be commenting."

...would have allowed the story to die. The statement they put out comes off as amateurish. Not surprisingly, it probably was crafted by someone who doesn't have the greatest amount of experience in managing national media.

Yes, like battered wives, some just walk on eggshells hoping not to make waves with our masters.....the MSM.

Others, are simply carrying MSM/DNC water.

You have hit the nail on the head. Instead of looking at this as a boxing match with points scored, we need to keep focused that this is real life. It is not about points, it is about honor.

Why have we forgotten that the most important qualification for a candidate is integrity? One light of integrity shines above a liars accusations.
