In all fairness to the station’s management — let me tell you that WMAL’s program director, Mr. Duckworth, FOUGHT HARD with the “upper echelon” (the owners of the station) in order to try to leave Chris on-air at WMAL.
I’m telling you, Guy, this was entirely a decision made from the Citadel honchos in NY — and there was nothing that Mr. D could do about it. Trust me on this one — I’ve been in communication with a variety of people about this. It sucks bigtime because of the fact that no one listens to “the little guy” [i.e. us]. Citadel is losing money in the billions of $$$ and they wanted cost-cutting changes to occur.
With Chris being a big money-maker for WMAL in the DC area, Citadel sure did slice off its nose to spite its face.
