Some people still argue that we live in a free country. In reality, we are one of the more legislated societies on the planet. The difference is that the arbiters of our freedom are the police, and many of them are either uninformed of the plethora of laws or choose to let most people slide on numerous occasions. That’s not the same thing as being free. It’s more akin to successfully avoiding the local warlords who demand tribute.
