The idea that dogs bred to fight are no more aggressive than your average dog is preposterous. And almost daily news stories confirm that.

They were (initially) not bred to fight PEOPLE. They were neither guard nor attack dogs. They were bred to bull bait (hence the name) and then later were bred to fight other dogs. Of course there are folks out there who breed them to be aggressive toward humans, but that is not to say the entire breed has that background.

Not towards people. That was specifically bred out of them. Any pit bull that demonstrated aggressiveness towards a human being was immediately put down.
Pit bulls were bred to fight other dogs...so yes they are aggressive towards other dogs, but not people.
Additionally, anytime you read that a 150# Pit bull has attacked someone, it is a lie. Pit bulls max out at about 85#. Anything above that is most probably a crossbreed and not a pit bull.
