Sorry to hear that Alia passed away. She always had something interesting to say. What a shame.

Yes, it’s very sad. I had hoped to meet her again. Now it will be longer!

I’m here. For a while.
I didn’t know Alia, but I’m always sad when a FReeper dies.

You’d have liked her.

I’ve got supper on (corn and potato soup), and should be getting bank deposits together for us and the Girl Scouts, but my feet hurt! Of course, Michael Palin (in my recorded-book) is walking through the desert with a camel caravan, so I guess my feet don’t *really* hurt ...

Michael Palin has some pretty interesting treks.
I like watching him.

I like potato soup and corn chowder, but only if I make them! LOL!!

I’ve seen a couple of his shows on TV, when we had cable, and checked the books out of the library for “Himalaya” and “Saraha.” It’s fun to listen to the recording; he’s reading it himself.

He’s pretty awesome in those treks. Of course, I loved him in “A Fish Called Wanda.”

K-K-K-K-Ken!

I don’t think I ever got around to seeing that, although I meant to. Maybe it’s in the library.

Guess I’ll go endorse checks and fill out deposit slips. I can go to the bank while Pat’s at gymnastics.

It’s worth getting.
Kevin Kline almost steals the show.

Maybe Anoreth can look at the library this afternoon. I’m going to fill out my deposit slips and go to the gas station and bank. The dragons are up from their nap, but catz and byos are still asnooze.

Looks like thunderstorms moving in from the west, so I should get underweigh!

I’m about ready to go take a shower and see if it helps my back any. (I miss my heated mattress pad. It doesn’t fit on the floor.)

I've had a number of discussions with Alia online. Shew will be missed.

I believe her husband is a deacon in our Anglican province.

Hope it will.

It seems I will have Internet here in Helsinki. We'll have to see about time, the next couple of evenings.

And yes, 'Face, I have taken a few pictures so far. Finnish architecture is very interesting, but it's going to take a bit to figure out. More interesting than most modern Scandinavian.

And Helsinki is *cold*. The snow is gone but spring has not arrived at all yet. It looks like it might be a delightful (and clean, generally) place come midsummer, but I'm very glad I packed gloves (used them this afternoon) and cap (haven't). My new "spring" jacket, which turned warmer than I expected, is sufficient for the job.

I must not look too American: boarding the KLM flight this morning I was greeted with "Guten Morgen." And several, though not all, Finns addressed me initially in Finnish -- though the resultant non-response quickly switched them to (excellent) English. Wonder what would happen is I responded in Gaelic? *\;-)

But for now I need to wrap up and crash. It's almost 10 PM here and I should be up at 6 - 7 or so. This 10-hour time shift is rather more brutal than the accustomed 9-hour (because I'm accustomed to it), and more like the 11-1/2 to India.

Hyvää iltaa (good night).

Awesome, sion!
I suspect you probably look like a Vik to those of that persuasion.

I'll be looking forward to your next post, whenever it may be!

Good travel advice, keep repeating that to yourself:
"I must not look too American"
"I must not look too American"
"I must not look too American"

Why were they calling you “Guten Morgen”, Sionnsar?

Did they mix you up with a Finnish passenger?
