I don't know what is is with some people and the hording of pets.
When we were house hunting we looked at a house that would have been pretty nice if not for the cat pee smell as well. The house was empty, so it was stale pee...and kitty poo on the carpet. It was a foreclosure. Not the worst of what we saw, but bad enough to be memorable.
That said, we have one cat, who doesn’t walk on the counters, uses her box, stays indoors all the time, enjoys bird and squirrel watching, and hates cats. Her worst trait is that she enjoys walking on people when they are sleeping.
