"I just sent this offer to 35,000 members of Resistnet.com"

Nice!!! Promising site. I'm sure being a member would have someone classified as a "militia" member, or militia sympathizer in Missouri.... Of course posting on FR or even being a member of the NRA is probably good enough too, so you will have all your bases covered. You are an "enemy of the state". LOL

Easy to opt out of the mail and phone calls.
Upgraded the GF and my Life memberships to endowment last year. Thinking about upgrading to Patron for both of us now.
Just cancelled all my HBO Cinemax garbage and think I will send that to NRA ILA.

The NRA gets tremendous political leverage from the membership total alone. If you belong for no other reason that is a good one. With some of the worst gun control legislation ever coming down the road and a Dem dominant Congress NRA influence is really going to matter.

Looks like it's free for a year, pandy. As others have posted you can opt out of their mailings too. I don't find that I get that much. Not compared to the '90s anyway. Appeals for money don't make me feel guilty either. If I don't have it I don't give it and I don't spend a minute thinking about it.

A member gets to choose one of their monthly magazines at no cost. I think one of the magazines is oriented to women shooters. You could take that one and add it to your nine year old's home school curriculum. lol

I joined, but I’m a little suspicious. Why is the mainsite URL different than this one?

"Why is the mainsite URL different than this one?"

If you go to http://www.nra.org and click on the "join" link at the top of the page, you are taken to http://www.nrahq.org/. Apparently they have more than one domain registered.

To those of you complaining about NRA mailings I experienced the same thing over the years but a few years ago just emailed them and had them put me on the NoMail list which you can do and the mail stops.

Thak you--I will be sure to do that when I sign up again, which I do soon.

The only time I use junk mail is to line my garbage to absorb the liquid crap and for my dog.

I soak my junk mail with water and roll it into paper logs for the woodburner. I even subscribe to additional lists to get more.

They burn for quite a while. Not to mention it's free.

Yes and then they will mail you every two weeks to renew your membership. Then the phone calls start coming in every other night.

I am a member and don't get all this stuff. One must be careful of what one checks off or doesn't check off.

Is there a minefield between you and the trashcan? You can’t get off the lazyboy to throw out a couple of unopened letters? Are you afraid to miss “American Idol” if you walk to the garbage can?

The mailers are sent out because they work. The four million NRA members are doing the work that the 75 million gunowners are ignoring.

There are only four million gunowners who support their Rights. The anti-gun AARP has 35 million members. Do the math.

If even half the gunowners would stop complaining and actually do something to support their Rights, we would have gun control. We wouldn’t be standing in line at gunshows for an hour to get in. We wouldn’t be spending twice as much for chinese copies. We wouldn’t be staring at empty shelves waiting for a box of .380.

Someone complaining of a few letters isn’t going to support their Rights no matter how many free memberships are given.
I don’t want anyone like that watching my back when things really get bad. And real bad things are coming.
