I hear how everyone just HAS to have a cellphone to get by these days (including kids, to stay in touch with parents).
How did this nation survive from 1890-1990 before cellphone use became so widespread?

Simple fact is, we didn’t. Oh, wait...
I sure grew up without it. I am in a high profile technical career, won’t pay for a cell phone (don’t need the leash) and only carry what the boss puts in my hand... at this moment a text pager I’ve had for 10 years.
It never occurred to me that mine was a life lacking the necessaries. The boss knows where to find me if I am needed.

I'm not a big fan of cellphones for kids--and see no point in texting at all, but we do need to remember that, (because of cellphones, of course) there's a lot less pay phones than there used to be.
