Odd that this wasn’t mentioned in the newer article, especially as it is the same newspaper. Perhaps they decided at the editorial meeting to describe this inconvenient outcome as “one-off” so they don’t have to report it again.

In the United States, the USSC had a case where police were using infrared cameras without obtaining a warrent in order to look inside homes.

Not the way infrared cameras work. They read the surface temperature of the exterior of the home, which is of course affected by what is going on inside the home, in the case in question growing of pot. They do not look through walls or inside homes.
