This does not, however, address my question, which was whether, population-wide, a genetic predisposition to heart disease could be proved independent of other factors.

We all have heart failure. Blacks do have a higher incidence of hypertension, and that is the number one cause of heart failure so there probably is a genetic component.

Outside of heart failure, there are many diseases that are predominant in certain ethnic groups.
