To Disney teen stars, slant eye is the new black. Singer Joe Jonas of The Jonas Brothers Band appears to have engaged in the same thoughtless mocking of Asians that recently landed tween sensation Miley Cyrus in hot water.
On Feb. 1, photos surfaced on the Internet showing Miley, 16, pulling her eyes back in a mock slant-eye gesture, and now a similar photo has leaked that appears to be Jonas. So far, there is no word or apology from the Jonas camp.
The Cyrus photo provoked international outcry from Asian and Pacific Islander groups, one of which is pursuing a $1 billion lawsuit against Cyrus. Miley later apologized for the photos, but it was rejected by activists and they are now seeking damages.
The 19-year-old Joe is the older brother of Cyrus ex-boyfriend Nick, 16. It was bad enough for Miley to make the mock gesture, but at 19, Joe Jonas is old enough to know better.

So maybe I should be offended by southern comments.
Kids have all ethnic backgrounds, except on the Disney channel. You can watch 100 episodes of Hannah Montana, and you might see 1 Asian kid, if you are lucky and even then, not more than 60 seconds.
Plus, did you watch "High School Musical" ? Almost no Asians at all. Even the head of the science club was a black girl. The only asian I saw was an asian girl in the science club who got to say 3 words and that was it.
Are you saying the head of the Math Club isn’t Asian? Wow, no one would believe that... ;^)
“but it was rejected by activists and they are now seeking damages. “
Damages!
That is funny!
I’ve seen the engineering and physics classes in college, and the science club in “High School Musical” was as demographically far from reality as you can get.
The two leaders were a hispanic girl and a black girl. The on asian has 1 or 2 lines and there were no asian males in the “science club”.
