“The 10 remaining singers flew on a corporate jet to Detroit”
Obviously American Idol didn’t receive any bailout money.
Chatting with Seacrest, Michael says he was sick last week and couldn't fly to Detroit with the others. But he still got to sing with Smokey at the Idol manison.
Smokey: He has a big voice. Michael needs to make sure he doesn't sweet talk the song.
[For once tonight, Smokey isn't overjoyed by a singer. Hm.]
The song is "Ain't Too Proud To Beg". We understand immediately what was troubling Smokey.
This is terrible! He sounds even whiter that Scott. And he's just off-key in some parts. Not good. Horrible ending, like somebody ran over a cat.
Paula: Oh boy ... For me this was a tough performance. Felt a little Las Vegas/loungy (the audience boos, but she's right). You need to dominate that song. I'm sorry, Michael.
Simon: Michael, look. I couldn't wait for it to end. You are taking part in this competiton--you have no chance of winning it, based on that vocal. This is a reality. Once again in the real world, it just isn't good enough. Forget all this nonsense about "domination". This was below par.
Randy: This song was a little too big for you. You're not an R&B kind of dude. You made it a little bit corny. Not the right song choice.
Kara: What we're looking for is an artist. What can you do differently to that song that makes us go wow, that was hot.
