The pair, parents to 2-month-old son Tripp, broke up 'a few weeks ago'
Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston have broken up, two sources tell PEOPLE.
The split happened "a few weeks ago," according to a source close to the couple, but it's unclear what precipitated it. "It was a mutual thing," adds the source.
"It kind of just happened," says the source, referring to the split. "I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp."
Despite the breakup, Levi still sees the couple's son. Levi's dad, Keith Johnston, told PEOPLE recently that his son is a devoted and "proud father."
Bristol, meanwhile, is attending Wasilla High, taking a class to supplement course work she is completing at home. She also is considering enrolling in college next fall and studying nursing.

Yes, she does have the opportunity to find a real husband. She’s still young. And I have to admit, I was worried she would be pressured into marrying Levi who would turn out to be the wrong guy for her and her baby. She doesn’t look like she’s spitting at everything sacred and holy...she can make the right choices from now on.
Haven fun pretending to pass as a conservative. You don't fool me.
Yes indeed, the only reason anyone could possibly have the temerity to espouse the traditional social norms of marital chastity and the primacy of the two-parent household is because they are really double-secret-probationary Leftist infiltrators.
That’s it; that MUST be it.
Brilliant, Holmes.
That is a nice post. I'm glad I can go to sleep thinking that there was at least someone who saw the light on this thread.
Good night.
For thou doth protest too much indeed.
I have been blessed in life to have been surrounded by fellow conservatives and fellow Christians, both of which you purport to be as well. I have known a few hard asses also. But your tone and presentation is almost a caricature of the worst that people see in Conservatives and Christians, with the judgments and condemnations and immutable absolutes completely devoid of the temperament I have come to know from my fellow travelers. There is no sense of fairness, mercy and grace that are the hallmarks of both Conservatives and Christians. Indeed your posts have been devoid of such and have been as insensitive and lacking in compassion as to almost be comic at times.
Conservatives and Christians as a group are the most compassionate people I know. Christians, the ones who truly understand Christ, are not only aware of the laws and morals he expects us too follow, but are also knowledgeable that he often cast his lot with the least of God's children for a reason. Perfection is his alone, as is final judgment of men's, and teenage girl's, souls.
A poster earlier made the statement love the sinner, hate the sin which I believe you edited to your liking. That sentiment has been part of the Christian world since the days of the apostles, and is the very core of Christs methods and purpose. An individual who truly knows him knows that, yet you feel the need to edit it.
So given all the evidence, the fact that something is just not right in all this, your words and presentation, and given your join date, I have to concur with Victoria to some extent if not in totality. While I can not say with any certainty you are a poseur from our friends on the other side, my instincts say you may well be. What I am certain of is that if I take your words and demeanor at face value you are indeed not one of us despite the appearance you are making. Whatever reason or purpose you have for doing this is beyond me, but if it is somehow intended to make Conservatives look foolish or mean, you may have gone a little overboard, pushing it to the point of almost being too obvious..
Someone who doesn’t know the Catholic position on in vitro fertilisation believes I must be an infiltrator—because after all, only an infiltrator could possibly disagree with you in the way I did?
Sure. Whatever you need to believe.
I'll let you contemplate what that is.
And I knew their position.
However I am not Catholic.
Nighty night, and keep going, no need in stopping now, it has passed in to the realm of caricature and that is where the fun begins around here...
Why then did you pretend shock that someone might take the Catholic position on sexuality seriously—which in fact is the basis of all my postings?
If, as you say, you knew?
Miss D, I see you've bumped into one of the anti-Palin Gollums. Nasty little things, aren't they?
I wasn’t an anti-Palin gollum at the start of this thread. But if the frantic invective of the Bristol defenders on this thread is the typical tenor of the Palin Camp I have no further interest in it.
And are you American born? I ask a/c of your spelling of the word "fertilisation",
If there was a criticism of Bristol Palin made which you thought was unfair, you should have objected to it directly, rather than challenging me to some sort of self-criticism like a Maoist show trial.
I do know that Pope Benedict is foursquare against fornication, in vitro fertilisation and the derogation of the vital importance of the traditional family.
Maybe you’d like to send the transcript to the Vatican for his analysis?
The last person who asked for personal information from me merely used it to insult me, so I’m afraid the biography channel has gone off the air.
Wow this is F*Cking News!
I eagerly await your expert tuition on the failings of my Catholicism...
Thank you for the ping.
Beautifully worded.
It’s funny how many pixels have been spilled condemning and insulting me for having the temerity to suggest that Bristol Palin has done and is doing something wrong, but the chief indictment against me is that I’m the one who’s irrationally judging and condemnatory.
But itching ears will hear only teachers to suit their own passions, I suppose.
I thought it was great. Kinda like watching Legolas fight orcs.
Hey, I’ve changed many a diaper in my day. Bring it on! Even the yucky parts are worth it, eh? :)
That wouldn't be necessary, mate.
