Report: Bristol Palin and Fiancé Split
TODAY ^ | 03.11.09 | STAFF

The pair, parents to 2-month-old son Tripp, broke up 'a few weeks ago'

Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston have broken up, two sources tell PEOPLE.

The split happened "a few weeks ago," according to a source close to the couple, but it's unclear what precipitated it. "It was a mutual thing," adds the source.

"It kind of just happened," says the source, referring to the split. "I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp."

Despite the breakup, Levi still sees the couple's son. Levi's dad, Keith Johnston, told PEOPLE recently that his son is a devoted and "proud father."

Bristol, meanwhile, is attending Wasilla High, taking a class to supplement course work she is completing at home. She also is considering enrolling in college next fall and studying nursing.

And what is your wonderful 26-year-old’s opinion of the importance of marriage?

Appearances mean so much to a certain kind of person who lives in a fantasy world.

Look at the Lisa Steinberg case for the reality of an adoption gone wrong. Steinberg and his companion appeared to be an ideal couple—lawyers, wealthy, trendy neighborhood etc. There are way too many adoptions that end like this:

“Right, her daughter was pregnant because she didn’t choose to become another teen abortion statistic.”

she was also pregnant because she decided to sleep with someone before marriage. It may be strange to hear this but there are people who wait until marriage...that is the conservative position and since this is a conservative website, we will continue to advocate for this position.

He is waiting for the right woman.

He is working and saving. He has yet to meet the right woman.

He will make a fantastic husband when he meets the “one.”

Thank you so much for asking.

I believe I have answered your question twice, but it seems you only want to hear the scenario in which I would disown my daughter.

I can’t imagine a situation in which that would happen.

I also don’t understand how that relates to our disapproval of bad decisions; I’m not demanding that Sarah and Todd put Bristol on the street.

No, you didn’t not answer the question directly. You used other people’s posts. If I am incorrect, point me to the post where you directly answer it.

Granted, this adoption was never legalized, but the teenage mother thought she was doing the right thing.

There are dozens of case histories like this of legally adopted children being murdered. A GOOGLE search will turn them up.

Ah yes, all I needed was to be called an “ass” and suddenly I see it all your way.

Feel better now? A little less bereft of rational argument?

Fornication has historically been a crime (in Virginia it was until 2005); that the law was little enforced, and that it is not currently in force does not place it out of bounds to refer to the perpetrators of an immoral act as perps, except to those who don’t want to admit the longstanding social and legal sanctions against fornication.

“Being a conservative has to do with keeping morals and virtue, but it also has to do with goodness of the heart, compassion, decency and the ability to honor life and not destroy it.”

All of these things argue for adoption over single parenthood. Deliberate single parenthood in the presence of viable alternatives is self-indulgence dresed up as martyrdom.

As I believe I have said at least twice on this thread
I, as a mother, would not have put my daughter in the
incredibly difficult position that Bristol occupies.
The reason she is news is because her mother chose to
pursue the role of Vice President of the United States
in spite of the fact that this was inevitably going to happen.
I believe this shows poor judgment and quite frankly,
skewed priorities.

Such a negative person.

....or maybe it was the child who used bad judgement in not keeping her legs closed, or the boyfriend who used bad judgement because he was too cheap and used a condem that was made in China that didn’t quite work the way it was supposed to.

The rate of murders by adoptive parents pales compared to that committed by natural parents, especially unmarried ones.

The person most likely to harm a child is an unmarried father, followed by a single mother’s boyfriend.

Thank you. So as I said to another, why do you not believe Sarah and Bristol didn’t go through the same process?

I’ll say it again: I personally place no blame on Sarah or Todd for what happened. They very well may be mortified bystanders to the self-destruction of their daughter by her private demons.

I don’t know what Todd and Sarah have said to Bristol.
