And the title of his new album is ???
Sushiman.
You need to read the context of the quote you are daming Zimmerman with. Tweeker’s link...
Taint fair hoss.
I think like most else, Bobby was always ambivalent about politics....except for the early civil rights movement before the kooks took over.
I love his stuff and I’m far right
I don’t give a flying fruck either as long as they don’t advertise it !
Right now America is in a state of upheaval, Dylan said. Poverty is demoralising. You cant expect people to have the virtue of purity when they are poor. But weve got this guy out there now who is redefining the nature of politics from the ground up Barack Obama. Hes redefining what a politician is, so well have to see how things play out. Am I hopeful? Yes, Im hopeful that things might change. Some things are going to have to.
Need a translator ?
not really sounds populist
“not really sounds populist”
It hardly seems enough to build an inquisition on.
I enjoy 12 bar blues as much as anyone...but his singing style just turns me off.
He sounds to me like he is straining to pinch a loaf as he sings.
But thanks...:)
I just defended Dylan Ansel
I was afraid that was too short and might be misunderstood. I was agreeing with you.
Dylan made such a bland meaningless statement and sushiman is treating it like a clue in a court of the inquisition that we need to analyze and determine if it gives us enough evidence to convict him.
Words have meanings , right ? What he said was as close to an endoresment one could ever expect to get from Dylan .
“What he said was as close to an endoresment one could ever expect to get from Dylan “
Interesting choice of words, like I keep saying, you seem to be trying to drive some sort of Inquisition here and I am at a loss as to what you are driving at.
It seems to me that you are getting at something to do with his purity, but purity of what?
What if it is even proven that he voted for a democrat this time, well we allow that, he is a musician and politically independent, we are merely pleased that he is not clearly a lefty and throws us bones like naming Goldwater as his favorite politician and implying that he supported President Bush in the war.
How much more can you make of that little shred of evidence that you keep beating, and why are we supposed to care so much?
” What if it is even proven that he voted for a democrat this time, well we allow that, he is a musician and politically independent, we are merely pleased that he is not clearly a lefty “
Interesting choice of words . How could he NOT clearly be a lefty IF he did vote for Obama ? He’s not some young brainashed college kid from an Ivy League school . You believe he was a Goldwater fan ? LOL . I know he said he liked Goldwater , but that doesn’t mean it’s true , according to your perception of how Dylan operates .
Over the past few years there has been a lot of talk on FR on how most folks thought he was a conservative or close to one . I just don’t buy it , hence my thread .
” How could he NOT clearly be a lefty IF he did vote for Obama ? “
We don’t even know who he voted for.
Voting with 53% of the public does not make you lefty anyway, I would think that any one of us here at FR can name friends and family that were part of that 53% that are not lefty’s, I know I can.
Like I keep asking, what is it you are trying to prove about Dylan? That he isn’t a freeper, or a conservative?
Why are you obsessing on his little comment, is there a lynching at the end of this, did he betray the conservative movement somehow like a Mitt Romney or a Peggy Noonan?
You are the one who said :
< What “ if “ it is even proven that he voted for a democrat this time ...<
Hence , my IF .
I’m out to prove that he isn’t the conservative or conservative leaning man some folks on FR think he is . That’s it .
Although I obviously read a lot of the music threads here I probably miss some but I wasn’t aware of any widespread claims that Bob Dylan is a conservative.
What kind of posts were they that caused you to form this goal of proving that the musician, Bob Dylan is not a “conservative”?
I know of sources like The Weekly Standard that make a case that Dylan can’t be pigeonholed and I know that many freepers that watched him for almost a half century share that view, and I know that you are doing a terribly inadequate job of putting the singer into a pigeon hole.
I wasn’t aware of any widespread clams that Dylan can be labeled or known as a “conservative” though.
I still don’t have any idea what big expose you are trying to get out there.
” What kind of posts were they that caused you to form this goal of proving that the musician, Bob Dylan is not a conservative? “
Not only here are folks pondering the BIG question . Type in “ Bob Dylan a Conservative “ in Google and see what you come up with . You’ll be surprised .
A Conservative does not support Obama . Dylan , normally reticent when it comes to politics , sure sounded like he was an Obama man in the articles I’ve read . Normally , he wouldn’t comment or make some ambiguous statement to keep everyone guessing .
Anyway , it’s been nice “ sparring “ with you , but let’s leave it here .
