(Kayos) Eagle Rock Entertainment is proud to present Rory Gallagher: Live in Cork, a DVD that captures the guitar virtuoso in a special concert. The DVD will be released on March 17.
Live in Cork is a documentation of Gallagher's homecoming, when he returned to Ireland in 1987 to play the Cork Opera House after several years' absence. Originally aired on Irish Television, Gallagher shook the house to its foundations with tracks like "Tattoo'd Lady," "Follow Me," "When My Baby She Left Me," and "Out On The Western Plain."
The DVD is more than a mere concert. The live portion (originally released as "Messin' With The Kid Live At The Cork Opera House" on VHS) is only the tip of the iceberg. Live in Cork also allows an in-depth look at Rory and the city that bred him. "Rough Guide To Rory's Cork" is a compilation of photos, anecdotes, memorabilia, and other footage from his hometown. Clearly, this excavation of the great guitarist's life and culture is an absolute treasure for a Rory Gallagher fan.
This special set is just the latest Gallagher offering from Eagle Rock. Previous titles include the Live at Montreux CD (July 2006), The Definitive Montreux Collection 2DVD set (May 2006), and the Live at Rockpalast 3DVD set (August 2007).

BUMP
This WAS MY YOUTH
Every life was enhanced that was able to see Rory bring down the house live.
One night at the Youngstown agora I kinda shimmed myself between to pillars that held up the balcony(the spacing was perfect, back to one and feet to another)
And I rocked the whole show high off the floor
Rory, Roy, Johnny Winter, Kim Simmonds..
I just remember drinking so much beer at the show I saw at a club and never getting drunk because I was sweating it out faster than I was drinking it. Then I had to wait for my buddy who insisted on waiting to get his autograph. So I got to meet him ever so briefly. Softspoken and humble, I recall.
Alvin Lee, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Jerry Miller, Hot Tuna...
A legend
Hot Tuna never got the huge fuzzbox blues sound credit they deserved....
I mean I like the Airplane sounding Burgers era stuff too
but Yellow Fever (?) was a blast too
there is a direct line from that Hot Tuna to The Jesus and Mary Chain and Husker Du...unique music
Alvin Lee’s “I’m Going Home” at Woodstock was arguably the highhlight of a poor but monumental production.
indeed....
Your right,let me rephrase.
The group i hung out with did not have any dealings with MJ but i am sure others patrons of the club partook in the consumption of MJ....
Especially Gatemouth. ...probably my all-time favorite guitarist. Used neither pick nor fingernails — he played with his finger callouses. Made for an incredible tone, similar to Wes Montgomery’s (who played with his thumb callous). Effortlessly integrated jazz, blues, and country in his unique style.
That happened to me at a Buddy Guy & Junior Wells show back in the mid-'80s in Santa Cruz. Wildest blues concert I've ever seen. Had about a dozen Guinesses and was stone cold sober.
Never saw Rory, alas.
Saw Gate perform a coupleof times in the early 1990s in Seattle clubs. He and his band were superb.
We might’ve been at the same show — I saw him in late ‘91 ....I think somewhere in Ballard, but I’m not sure.
