It isn't a cervical cancer vaccine. It is a vaccine against an STD that has a cancer associated with it.

AIDS makes people susceptible to cancer as well.

Both men and women can get cancer from HPV but only girls are being given the vaccine.

Does the vaccine not work on men?

Why should the men still get HPV and spread it to women who are not vaccinated? Why not vaccinate all of the people of a culture and age group?

Because making it a “women's issue” is designed to stifle all debate on the matter of whether the girls should be vaccinated for an STD before they've even begun puberty.

I think boys and girls should have the vaccine. HPV can cause oral cancer as well.

This is exactly what I gleaned from those wall-to-wall Guardisil ads. All of my daughters recently passed through that age demographic without the vaccine. We discussed it and all three came to the conclusion that it was a good idea only for girls who planned to be promiscuous.

It would be nice if the ads would make it clear that it is, in fact, a vaccine against an STD that has a cancer associated with it. And don't give me the old liberal saw about "no girl plans to be promiscuous, it just happens naturally. If nature governed all human behavior, we would still be living in caves and eating raw meat.
