Thanks for the additional comments. Kirk had to find out about it from someone.
I didn’t read the Best Destiny, so I’m not familiar with it more than what you stated. I believe it takes a very good study of weapons and tactics from a historical perspective to be a good military leader. I don’t believe people are just born military leaders. You may be a good leader, but if you come up against someone else who was also born a good leader and they have studied military tactics, they’re likely going to feed you your shorts.
That’s just my take on it. Others may/probably will disagree.
Yep. The characters are truly likeable. The most moving moment in the whole series is when the companion goes into the fetal position and sobs. It was very moving and really exposed what happens when “real humanness” comes up against liberal contrived morals.
I’m sure you know what scene I am talking about.

I agree with you. And so does the lady who wrote Best Destiny. The last scene with young Jimmie has him tell his dad, “I’m going to the academy. I’m going to join Star Fleet.”
Okay, good. Thanks for the mention Frank.
“Ive been getting interested in Star Trek: Enterprise on TV lately though...”
I had high hopes for that show but they ruined it and cheated me out of three more years of Jolene Blalock!
It's all about the premises. Very often there will be a credible, accepted, and popular primary premise (e.g., destroying the enemy is the mark of a hero) that conceals the real objective: acceptation of a questionable secondary premise.
I couldn’t agree more. I don’t want to go overboard with the concept, but I do try to be aware of the messages being sent. If I know they are trying to sell, I can recognize it for what it is and ‘object’.
LOL
Yes.
“Serenity” the movie was fantastic!
IIRC, he took it 3 times, and cheated once. But I might nor remember correctly...Star Trek is NOT my life!
I dunno...it kind of looks like ‘Top Stun’. ‘You’re a misfit. Can’t fit in. Your Dad was a hero. What about you?’
Shakespeare, Henry IV. It's actually one of the oldest plot devices in the book . . .
And in fact, that's what happened: Kirk got a commendation for "original thinking."
Of course in Wrath of Khan, you see both sides of the coin: Kirk has cheated death so many times that he finds himself unprepared for the "no-win scenario" of Spock's death.
I think all Freepers should be sent a copy for review. Just a thought.
I was a kid too when it ran on the tube as a weekly series. Compared to Rat Patrol and Time Tunnel I thought it was hokey as heck with all the cheezy costumes and effects. I didn’t get into it until after I had been to college (did some LDS) and the first motion picture came out, been hooked ever since.
My ex girlfriend’s kid will have a bootleg DVD copy a week before the movie opens.
BY FAR the best spinoff. I think the only reason it ran 4 seasons instead of 6 was Trek burnout.
