Aren’t they a little too old to have a swing set?

Their kids are 10 and 7. That’s still in swing set age.
As long as it was paid with the Obama’s own money, the kids should have some place to play. It can be pretty hard for young kids in a place like that. The White House must be pretty much a “look but don’t touch” place for kids.

"too old to have a swing set?" Could they be planning a third child?

The younber one is 7. My 14 year old and his friends still go out and “play” on our swing set. Of course, most of the time they are playing laser tag and such and they hide behind it, etc. My 14 year old also puts his MP3 player on and swings on the swing when he’s bored. He likes getting outside.
When we have parties, all the kids are still on the swingset.
I think his youngest is 7 or 8, and this looks like a totally fun swingset for a 7 year old.

No, they are the same ages as my children and they would love to have a swing set.

we have one in our yard, and our boys still use it... not so much the swings as they are supposed to be used... they make up their own stuff with them... and they have them really high off the ground to where they have to climb to get to them... they certainly usr the bars and the fort part of the structure... they are ages 12 and 8...
i want to know if they paid for it themselves... we paid for our own...
