I'd plead to a misdemeanor too if I was facing a felony and was given the choice.

I did move out of PA - is there some reason you asked?

FWIW, there were two sides to that story. Jones had to buy part of the Cowboys from the bank. The Dallas Cowboys were bankrupt when Jones acquired them. Landry and Schramm had treated the previous owner, Bum Bright, pretty shoddily, refusing to return calls, etc.

According to the grapevine, Jones tried to contact Landry several times. I was a Landry fan, but despite the fact that Jones has, IMHO, screwed up pretty badly since 1993, he's the reason the Cowboys are still in Dallas. Without his intervention, the Cowboys would likely have had to move to another city. Shortly before Scramm was fired, he was giving interviews saying things wouldn't change with the Cowboys, that he and Landry would still be running things. Landry and Schramm intended for Jones to be a silent owner, and were counting on their popularity with the fans to insulate them from Jones being able to have any control over them.

I"m not disputing anything you wrote because I have no knowledge of the history of the owners..... I just got a quick laugh when you mentioned the team might not still be in Dallas. The way they've been playing I was seeing:

The Abilene Cowboys.... lol

I don't think they have a #1 receiver now, and by the time they're done, they'll have around $15 mil in dead money going against the cap, so unless they find a diamond in the rough, they're going to have to go to a west coast offense, or try to go running with Jones, Choice and Barber III. They can dink and dunk, and maybe Austin can become an occasional stretch the field guy, but other than that, I think they're in trouble. Additionally, we're looking at a defense that was absolutely shredded by the Rams, Ravens and Eagles (we're not talking about traditional offensive juggernauts here.) They lost Canty, have to come up with big money to keep Ware, and gave up close to half of their draft to get UT Roy Williams from Detroit.

Having been a Pokes fan for a long time,

this is Dan Reeves and me when he was the starting halfback, I think the Cowboys and the Redskins have become the low hanging fruit for the NFL. This is where other teams go to steal good players and dump big contracts.

The rumors were they might go to Los Angeles. I've been predicting the collapse of big sports as the next bubble, and the Cowboys have a fairly thin profit margin right now, despite being the most valuable franchise in sports.

If the big TV contracts dry up some (advertising revenue is significantly down,) jersey sales tank ($80-$150 for replica jerseys?), corporations quit underwriting luxury boxes, and people realize they REALLY don't have to spend $200 a ticket, $20 for parking, and $8 for a beer, the NFL as a whole could be in serious trouble. Over half of the NBA teams are losing money now. The Buffalo Bills are probably in financial trouble; the Carolina Panthers have attendance problems even when they make the playoffs.

Additionally, I don't think most cities are in a position now to offer a team a billion bucks in incentives to move, so I don't think you'll see any more St. Louis Rams deals anytime soon.

Maybe they work the run this year....MB3 can hammer through, Choice did fantastic, and if Felix is healthy perhaps their running game will be good. Plus it keeps Romo from throwing INTs.

None of the receivers left did much of anything last year - like you said, I think they're in trouble. Great pic with Reeves you have there - before the days players would charge for signatures or pictures.

Maybe it's not 100% Wades' fault (Jerry can share), but a SB contender team is falling apart under his watch. The Tuna is smiling way down in MIA.

He screws up one team, one coach at a time, then shuffles things around to make it look like it was the team's fault.

Sounds just like the dim playbook - doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

“Tampa, Washington, Baltimore, Atlanta(longshot)and KC”

Doubt Balto. as he agreed to come here before the Eagles. Not a few people still remember that and don’t like the guy.
Wonder if he wants to play with Garcia at TB.
I could see one of the others.

He’s a textbook clinical narcissist, which is funny enough in itself. It’s funnier still to watch the narcissistic owners take their turns displaying their pathology by saying to themselves, “I’m the one who can work with T.O.”

T. O. must really draw the hate < /love> crowd. This has more views and replies than most news threads.

Their o-line is pretty good head to head, but nobody plays them head to head. The defenses work gaps and stunts, and the line doesn't have the mobility or smarts to pick up the blitzes, stunts and packages. If they can't stretch the field at least a little, they won't be able to run.

I still think they've got bigger problems on defense. I keep hearing about how good the linebackers are, but when the Ravens are popping 70+ yard runs on consecutive plays, that sounds to me like linebackers are either out of position or not tackling. Course, I don't really know the assignments in a 3-4, so...

“I did move out of PA - is there some reason you asked? “

I use a different handle on other boards. I’m the one who told you about the Quakertown Farmer’s Market. They are still in business and one meat vendor has the best cheesesteak ribeye available. Not a real high class joint like I mentioned.

One thing I would never consider was buying ground beef from a market that’s only open about five days a week. Mom and Dad were standing in line for their ribeye and FIVE TRAYS of ground beef were sold while they waited. Check the supermarket for the $1/$2 off tags so they can move the stuff that’s near garbage.

I grew up in Bucks Co, played football against a lot of these guys, and cautioned you not to wear “clean clothes” to visit the Q-Mart. The place is for soiled bluejeans and working people only. I tried to get a fellow worker to move from South Philly to Q-town (only place he could afford) and he said it was still too expensive. He didn’t know decades ago how bad Philly would get. Q-town isn’t much better, the crime centers in Bucks are Bristol on the south side and the Q-town area on the north side.

I was thinking about Moss and TO. Both drop catchable balls and both have had their share of drama. Watching Moss this year I could see a few times where he did his QB no favors.
