My father faced signs that read “Irish Catholics need not apply”. I want reparations. Let’s go really socialist and make March the Irish Reparations month.

“In my brief conversations that I’ve had with him, he tells me that he’s very proud of his own Irish ancestry in County Offaly.
“I think he’s very conscious of his Irish associations.”
I really don’t want to disown my Irish heritage but if he’s claiming it as his own, I will be tempted... Yes - the Irish worked hard upon arrival here to achieve and be successful - when they were allowed to. What then is his excuse for those who were born here not working to realize that same dream? Guess that’s best left unsaid, right Zero?

wait you mean white people were repressed too, and they don't still complain about it

The colonial "migrations" were more like the Brits took some of my ancestors captive, tossed them in prison barges, and then hauled them to America where they were set ashore only to have to serve out their lives as slaves.
Obama is being less than truthful when he calls that sort of thing a "migration".

Plenty of Irish slaves were shipped to the Carribean thanks in great part to King James II and "perfected" by Cromwell. They were considered as less valuable than the Black slaves - after all, one had to pay for the Blacks - so the treatment of the white slaves was worse. Will the descendants of the Irish slaves get reparations too? Is this story news to you?

Yeah ~ he links up with one whale of a lot of really old American ancestral lines about 150 years ago. He's got white slave blood.
He's got a bunch of relatives right here on FR in fact.
Lisen up when folks talk about genealogical informationf rom the 1600s ~ Obama's mother's family is in there.

In my brief conversations that Ive had with him, he tells me that hes very proud of his own Irish ancestry in County Offaly.
County Offal is this dirtbag’s ancestral home.
This guy is such a chameleon .
On Yom Kippur he’ll pretend to be Jewish.
And on the 4th of July he’ll pretend to be American.

My Great-Grandmother, one Hannah Dillon, was sent as an indentured servant to a prod family in Grosse Pointe, MI, in the late 19th Century. I want my reparations, and I want them NOW!

First question, no. Second question - the general story is not news, though the particular family information is interesting. Nice website - I can only imagine how many hours were spent in research.
