As a mystery, it’s a very intriguing tale, but ultimately rather nihilistic.

I remember reading the series when it came out, right before I went to college. It was ground-breaking at the time - violent, dark, often profound. Now every comic book - er, excuse me, graphic novel - tries for the same, and usually misses.

It’ll make Dark Knight look like a Will Ferrell comedy.

We can hope. Given Hollywood's usual adaptations of great novels and other written source material, who know?
