You know, I actually wouldn’t deem it inappropriate for a White House evening function. I don’t think it’s inappropriate at all. The colors are magnificent on her, the style is flattering. It’s a great look — so long as she doesn’t wear it to his State of the Union address or the Daughters of the American Revolution meeting, I’m cool with it.

I don't expect her to dress like Pat Nixon. I don't even expect her to dress like Nancy Reagan (who I thought had wonderful taste [not that Pat didn't]), and she can dress young and hip, but the style has to be good for her — not just the designer who's getting the plug and donating the outfit.

The “Diana Ross” dress is young, vibrant AND flattering. She could pull it off. I'm not consigning her to orthopedic shoes and navy and white polka dot crepe dresses. Just consult someone other than you 9 year old who thinks you'd look great in Millie Cyrus’ line.
