Got divorced in 2000. Got remarried in 2007. Primary discussion before getting married was that we weren't going to have kids because I already had one (14 at the time).
Do you know the best way to make God laugh? Tell Him your plans. He decided we needed another girl in our family - and so we have Kayleigh. I'm 45, my wife is 36, and it's absolutely awesome. Funniest part is when I'm out by myself with her and some woman will come up and go, "Oh, are you out with grandpa?" And I get to smile and say "Nope, I'm her dad." I don't know why they get all embarrassed. ;)
I totally understand the making God laugh line.
My children are 27, 24, 7 and 5, and we have a 4 yr old and 6 month old grand-daughter. My two youngest are Chinese and I have a 2 t-shirt that says “I AM the real Mom!”
