I’d be a bit cautious with this guy. I do think Obama is a narcissist. The problem is that Vaknin has a gadfly-resume, viz: http://samvak.tripod.com/cv.html He’s all over the map—has done high-tech stuff, commodities analysis, consulting to foreign governments—so he claims. His degrees are from suspicious sounding schools, though they may be legit—it’s hard to say.

Citing him as an authority, even though he may be right about the basic stuff here, is not wise. Can’t someone who is really credible on pathological narcissism write something on Obama?

Salon posted it to show how much of a goofball Vaknin (and therefore, the Right) is.

"Narcissists have no interest in things that do not help them to reach their personal objective."

Kinda like his "Christian" faith?

It’s amusing that this comes from Salon. Buyer’s remorse is apparently settling in across a wide spectrum.

I have found one quality and only one quality that I like about 0. I’m pretty sure that he truly loves his kids. Not his country mind you, but I do think he loves his kids.

I want to be clear—I don’t know if Vaknin is a goofball. And I do think Obama is a pathological narcissist or at least suffers from a really goofed up childhood and possibly from some serious personal problems. I agree with all of that. But Salon is poking fun at Vaknin and not entirely without reason. So we need to be careful relying on Vaknin as a “great authority on pathological narcissism.”

Vaknin obviously is a highly confident self-promoter himself.

Not the same as “Salon.”

The site is “Open Salon,” and the text is posted as a quote and as an example of “far right” incendiary rumor-mongering.

It was posted before the campaign here, I believe.

Seeing it posted on Salon would be news. Alas, it wasn’t.

Good find!

"The fact that Obama is a total incognito with zero accomplishments, makes this inexplicable infatuation alarming."

From his first appearance as a possible candidate, I thought his lack of any serious record or accomplishments would end him just like it would anyone else. Instead, the media swooned, hung up what was left of their objectivity and went after Sarah Palin for, in their opinion, a lack of a record that would qualify her to be VP.

Parody writers could not have come up with anything more comical, only it's deadly serious with immediate and far reaching consequences. The media has failed us in their professional capacity and in their duty as fellow Americans and travelers on this Earthly plain.

I am left with the only reasonable conclusion that God is writing this one. Now, where did I put Epicenter 2.0 and those Left Behind books...

Obama’s speeches have a carefully (self) orchestrated cadence that resonates with the limbic brain. It’s rhythmic and keeps a kind of beat that is similar in function to popular music.

I believe this is why he gets frustrated when his speeches are interrupted by hecklers. It knocks him off rhythm. And he seems to lack the ability to go back and get to the rhythmic point of where he left off.

Heavy metal music was particularly adept at this. Obama learned it and he learned it well. It gave him the ability to deliver a vacuuous message that would be well received. Even though the message said nothing.

Obama’s only claim to fame was delivering a keynote to the convention. Big deal. Like that’s supposed to be an accomplishment.
