Samantha Brown's shows are the antithesis of what the Travel Channel should be about. She has an original take on just about nothing.

I agree that the TC has gone too "foodie" of late, but more insipid milquetoasts globetrotting isn't the cure.

One can always write to some governmental ministry or "tourism office" for the highly varnished tourist info like Brown cheekily (and boringly) provides.

I was never a huge fan of Samantha Brown, but at least it had something to do about traveling somewhere, and seeing something worth seeing, somewhere else.
