Is it really the least important part? Consider the following two sentences, both will pass your spell checker and both are grammatically correct and yet differ by a single letter:

The other day I was roping cattle with my friends; it’s a fun and lively exercise.
And,
The other day I was raping cattle with my friends; it’s a fun and lively exercise.

As you can see, that single letter changes the whole meaning of these sentences.

Reminds me of the lesson I used with sixth graders, regarding commas:

Let's eat, Charley.
Let's eat Charley. (Charley Tuna commercials were popular at the time.)
