“Let me also say that I remain distressed that the White House during this confirmation process, which overall went smoothly, failed to provide critical documents as part of the record that could have provided us with a better basis to make our judgment with respect to the nomination. This White House continues to stymie efforts on the part of the Senate to do its job. I hope with the next nominee who comes up for the Supreme Court that the White House recognizes that in fact it is its duty not just to the Senate but to the American people to make sure we can thoroughly and adequately evaluate the record of every single nominee who comes before us.”

Barrack Obama on the confirmation of Justice John Roberts

I haven’t disagreed with the need for the documentation. In fact, I argued strongly for it prior to the election. But, as I said before, “I lost...”. And — furthermore — what I’ve seen (thus far) has shown me that there is a big loophole in the vetting process (I’ve also said this all along).

My disagreement with a lot of these posters who “go on” (and on...) about this qualifications issue — is about “how to go about it” — and not that the documentation is not needed.

And also, I disagree with a lot of these posters about the “qualifications issue” in that Obama cannot be removed apart from the impeachment process (that’s what “I” say...).

So, it doesn’t have to do with me supporting Obama, but about this “process” that others are advocating is getting nowhere and is (what I consider) useless. And that’s why I’ve supported the process of legislation in Oklahoma, because I see that as a viable way to get the documentation.

I don’t see the court system as doing anything about it. And these other posters see the court system not doing something about it and consider that to be proof that it’s “crooked” and it’s “in support” of Obama (but I don’t think so...).

Anyway, I say all that, because I do argue strongly against what I consider to be something that is going nowhere. If it was going somewhere, it would have been *done* by now — a long time prior to the inauguration.

So, that’s what I say about it... and Obama is right, in what he said — even if he won’t do it for his own documentation... [however — *at the time* — I would be willing to bet that many FReepers would have told Obama to “buzz off” about his comments... LOL..]
