See my post #11 ;-).
Let’s just call it a Darwin Award.
True. I don't see why Darwinism couldn't have their own caucus. But if I couldn't reply to Darwinistic articles, then I would want to block that caucus.
Kind of like turning the dial on the radio, rather than having the Fairness Doctrine?
Whatever. I'm not bothered by the existence of people who believe different things from me.
But even if it's entirely innocent, I still would like the option to selectively block caucuses.
I don't care that FR provides a caucus for LDS. I just don't want to have to see it. And there are so many LDS articles popping up, that it's become an annoyance.
I think that’s silly, but it didn’t cost you anything to ask.
In a caucus, only those who share the same belief are welcome to post. In an ecumenical thread, anyone can post but antagonism is not allowed. Devotional threads are mostly for witnessing, sharing testimonies, etc. And of course open threads are rowdy like a town square.
The only time atheists get in trouble on the RF is when they troll from thread to thread knocking religion per se. It is after all a Religion Forum and that kind of behavior is just as trollish as a liberal bouncing around the News/Activism forum dissing conservatism.
But if they want to show up on the RF and express their beliefs - or lack thereof - they are welcome to do so within the guidelines.
DannyTN, the desire for an ability to block - whether threads or specific posters - has been raised several times. For the mods, it would be a boon since posters could just hide their personal antagonists rather than hitting the abuse button or pinging one of us.
Still, it would require a significant software enhancement and so it remains on the wish list.

During the primary season, I did quite a bit of reading over at DU, just to keep up with the view from the dark side. Overall, the infrastucture of their site is inferior to FR, but they do have a pretty good blocking function. Quite a few DU posts were too infuriating to even glance at for a fraction of a second, and so I blocked those posters from my view. It worked well, and I hope ours works as well, if/when it works its way up the wish list.
