Miley did the voiceover for Bolt and wrote the song that was up for Best Song.

No, she didn't. Three songs were nominated--two from Slumdog and one from Wall-E, which was written by Peter Gabriel. There was a studio push to get a nom for the Bolt song, but it didn't work.

The real reason Miley was there is that she's a Disney star and the Oscars were an ABC-Disney extravaganza. I was amused to see that the post-Oscars Barbara Walters special kicked off with an interview of the Jonas Brothers, who had zero to do with the Oscars but who are also Disney stars.

Synergy, baby.

Miley's song was nominated for a Golden Globe and her concert movie made a fortune for the studio. She has a new one coming out. Beyonce has put on some weight since her "Dreamgirls" days, but she did a great job keeping up with Jackman (in stilettos). "Cadillac Records" was unwatchable.

The Jonas Brothers have a Beatles-type movie coming out and were on barbara Walter's show for the young demos.

You’re right; I was still thinking of the Golden Globes? Award season is overkill and the Oscars fail to surprise by the time they roll around.

I will admit that I like the Jonas Brothers, but Miley Cyrus annoys me. I was pretty nonchalant about her until I saw her interview on Ellen where she couldn’t stop giggling about her 20 year old boyfriend.
